Physio-Tests on the CLIFF – HR-EE
Research #1 and #2
Rock climbing
has increased in popularity as both a recreational physical
activity and a competitive sport. Climbing is physiologically
unique in requiring sustained and intermittent isometric forearm
muscle contractions for upward propulsion. The determinants of
climbing performance are not clear but may be attributed to
trainable variables rather than specific anthropometric
characteristics.
During climbing, there are
increases in oxygen consumption and heart rate as it requires
utilization of a significant portion of whole body aerobic
capacity. With increasing climbing difficulty, there is an
increased reliance on anaerobic energetic pathways, as evidenced
by increases in blood lactate and a disproportionate rise in
heart rate in relation to oxygen consumption.
There
are various types of climbing techniques such as Traditional
climbing, bouldering, Sports Climbing, etc. Each of them is
needs a separate kind of skill and has its own thrill in
performing. But one thing is common to all of them, and that is
the physical ability in the body of the climber for upward
propulsion ie. the strength to take him/her self up and the
endurance to keep doing so for a long time.
The purpose of these research
studies are to critically examine the physiology of climbing on
the CLIFF and compare and contrast them with traditional fitness
training methodologies like running on the treadmill against the
following parameters:
-
Oxygen
Consumption and Carbon Dioxide exhaled – using K4 b2
telemetric equipment
-
Heart Rate –
using Polar Telemetry
-
Muscle
condition –
using EMG and many more
PURPOSE:
•
Most Fitness equipments are launched without any
tests conducted resulting in large impacts on the body and mind
of the user. These cause permanent damage to the user body in
unknown way and scare away new comers completely from the
activity of fitness. VERTICAL INFINITY wants to keep itself and
others fully informed about the right ways of exercising.
• VERTICAL
INFINITY has definitive backing for all claims it makes about
the advantages of the equipment for fitness.
• Wanting
to give the best to its CLIENTS, these tests have helped
VERTICAL INFINITY in fine tuning the equipment to the BEST of
usage and performance.
The Following tests have been
conducted
1. “Evaluation
of the CLIFF Equipment as a Fitness Training Equipment”
2. “Use
of the CLIFF Equipment as a Selective Muscle Training Equipment”
3. “Impact
of continuous usage of the CLIFF on sedentary women and its
comparison with the usage of a treadmill”
